Having obtained planning permission to replace an existing structure with a 3-bay oak frame garage with room above, Jody contacted HB Oak Frames.

Jody was in the process of a complete driveway overhaul and required extra parking spaces. The garage was designed with two undercover bays for parking with a ground floor studio space and separate space above for storage.

Working from the plans provided, HB Oak Frames installed the structure and fitted an external staircase to the side with a half glazed access door at the top. Velux windows were fitted along one roof slope with a single timber framed window installed at the opposite end to fill the area with natural light.

On the ground floor, two out of the three bays were kept open to allow for extra car parking with the third and final bay completely partitioned to allow Jody to use this space as her new studio. Lots of natural light was required in this space and a half glazed door and two timber windows were installed. Internally, the natural oak beams are kept on show and create a rural and rustic look.

Externally the roofing tiles were matched to the existing oast house with the cladding painted back and coated in fire retardant due to the proximity of an neighboring fence line.

The building was left ready to be for second fixes to be carried out by Jody’s separate contractors.
